The Subtle Approach
A Pastel Palette Lifts Fall's Mood
May 8, 2008
Chalk it up to the increasingly global fashion market (it's always summer somewhere!). Or perhaps it's the acceleration of fashion cycles. Whatever the rationale, the Fall runways were sprinkled with the sort of shades normally reserved for Spring. Lilac, peach, blush pink, ice blue, and mint green made appearances at Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors, J. Mendel, and Stella McCartney. For his debut at Emanuel Ungaro, creative director Esteban Cortazar also decided to keep things on the lighter side. "Pastels captured the relaxed elegance of the collection," he says. "I wanted to bring a sense of softness and unapologetic femininity back to the house by cleaning the palette and evolving from there."
