When promoting a fundraiser, why not go straight to the people with the funds? That was the approach taken Tuesday by the American Museum of Natural History's Winter Dance chairman,
Claire Bernard.
Together with host committee members
Fabiola Beracasa
and
Derek Blasberg,
Bernard closed the NASDAQ. "I had to give a speech and everything before ringing the bell," she said a few hours later, sitting down to dinner in the museum's Grand Gallery. "It was finally something my parents can relate to," chimed in Blasberg.
Following a meal of filet mignon and seared vegetables, guests including
Moby,
Tom Sachs,
and
Margherita Missoni
(one of many wearing
Rachel Roy,
the evening's sponsor) adjourned to the Milstein Hall of Ocean Life for dessert and dancing, the latter courtesy of Bungalow 8's DJ Coleman. On their feet were some of Bernard's fellow chairs:
Zani Gugelmann,
Amanda Hearst,
Tinsley Mortimer,
Jacqueline Sackler,
and
Ivanka Trump.
But not
Andrew Saffir,
who professed to be lost. "Look at Tinsley, she knows where to go," he said. "Not like me, I need a map."
