The Latest Shindigs in Milan and L.A.

It was once Vanity Fair that held the fashion week dinner in Milan, but the last couple of seasons, Jefferson Hack appears to have inherited the host mantle. The British indie publishing honcho welcomed 70 or so guests to industry canteen Le Langhe on Wednesday night to celebrate both Margherita Missoni's 25th birthday and the latest issue of Another Magazine. After dinner, Argentinean chanteuse Lola Ponce broke into song. Irina Lazareanu, also a songbird of note, wasn't inclined to join her, though Purple PR's Nancy Oakley had a game stab at "White Rabbit." Margherita's mom, Angela, arrived for the spectacular cake. Daria Werbowy and Lily Donaldson came later, just in time for the nightly hegira to the bar at the Principe.

Meanwhile, in Los Angeles, Saks Fifth Avenue hosted its Unforgettable Evening gala to benefit the Entertainment Industry Foundation's Women's Cancer Research Fund. The night's guest of honor, Hilary Swank, arrived sporting a short new 'do, having donated her chopped locks to wigs for chemotherapy patients. Asked if he would consider doing the same, Harvey Weinstein shot back, "My hair is disappearing anyway. I think I'd rather just write the check."
