There's always something engagingly off-kilter about a Cavalli event. It might be the unruly throng, or the erratic flow of Prosecco, or the outré mix of canapés (prosciutto on this tray, chocolates from the Cavallis' own confectioner in Florence on that), or maybe even the sight of
Roberto himself puffing on his huge, ever-present cigar, which he then placed between the lips of Israeli starlet Moran Atias. At least, that was the spectacle that greeted arrivals at the opening of the new Just Cavalli superstore on Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré. "It's the Just Cavalli Palazzo," laughed
Eva Cavalli. "Just before we open the
big Cavalli Palazzo." (That's a couple hundred yards down the street.)
Later that night, the Cavallis kept the good times rolling with an after-party at Le Crazy Horse, the iconic Parisian cabaret club. "I think this is the best place for this form of entertainment," said burlesque beauty
Dita Von Teese, as she took in the performance of topless chorus girls and limber strippers. "And I think this is the best place for a date."
Kanye West agreed. "I'm all for the objectification of women," said the rap star, who'd brought along his fiancée, Ghita fashion designer
Alexis Phifer.
Lou Doillon, however, had some reservations. "Now every woman in here thinks she can do what they just did," said Doillon as the stage show gave way to a dance party. "And there's a few that shouldn't even be trying."
