The Long Good-Bye

Paris Fashion Week Comes to an End With a Trio of Fêtes

On Sunday evening, Marc Jacobs and Yves Carcelle wrapped up Paris fashion week—in fact, fashion month—with a dinner in honor of the new Louis Vuitton Emprise watch at a posh private residence. While some guests still had some pep in them ("I want to find out whose house this is and then seduce them," plotted Milla Jovovich), others seemed to have reached their saturation point—including the host himself. "I am so tired. I think that I'm gonna sneak out now," Jacobs announced. But then, he has produced three runway collections (Marc Jacobs, Marc by Marc Jacobs, and Louis Vuitton) in four weeks, a feat that would have anyone planning an escape. And for once, Jacobs intends to take one. "For the first time in ten years, I'm going on a vacation," said Jacobs of his plans for March. "They finally gave me some time off—ten days. I can't wait."

Meanwhile, there was no rest for the weary at Miu Miu's party at Le Castel, where the DJ spun untz-untz tunes into the wee hours. The mostly under-30 guests, bless them, boogied down like they could go another fashion week. "It's a very cool, young crowd here tonight!" declared Riccardo Tisci over the blaring music. The dance floor (scented with Diptyque candles) did attract some more, er, mature movers and shakers such as Francesco Vezzoli, Miuccia Prada, Craig McDean, and Mario Testino, who, en route to the third-floor bar, found himself unexpectedly out of breath. "It's exhausting climbing these stairs," he panted. It's just fashion season, Mario, nothing to worry about.

Two nights earlier at Le Baron, the Parisian lounge where the coolest of the cool kids congregate, Olivier Zahm hosted a party for his hipster bible, Purple magazine. "I am getting very, very intimate with strangers right now," said Lou Doillon as she attempted to navigate the club's cramped environs. "This could be Beatrice Inn," observed Leigh Lezark, referring to the night spot's American sister club. "You know, except everyone is speaking French. And people are a little better dressed." Ah, Paris, we'll miss you.
