Count Cinema Society founder
Andrew Saffir among the legions of
Project Runway fans. When the Tribeca Grand's projection room phoned to say that it had accidently double-booked his March 5 screening of the film
Married Life with the fashion reality show's big finale, Saffir was happy to cede. "
Project Runway is sacred," he said. "You just don't mess with it."
As a substitute, Saffir rented out the nearby Tribeca Cinemas. The refreshments were a bit more limited than usual (think Sierra Mist rather than a Grey Goose martini), but he made up for it with a lavish dinner at the Soho Grand's penthouse.
Chris Cooper, one of the film's stars, took in the sweeping Manhattan skyline as he explained why he'd missed the screening: "I won't look at anything until I have about a year and a half's distance on it. That's the only way I can watch myself objectively."
Rachel McAdams, who stars as Cooper's mistress, made a cameo on the red carpet but missed both dinner and movie. (No, she didn't sneak out to watch Heidi Klum emote; she was due back on set in D.C., where she's filming
State of Play.) During her brief appearance, the actress found time to reflect on monogamy. "We're not really designed for it, genetically," she said. "That's the hardest thing. We're constantly struggling with our evolution
or lack thereof."
