The people at Swedish denim giant Acne Jeans know how to party. To celebrate their first store in New York, they took over the very ritzy 21 Club in midtown on Friday night and hosted a very progressive masked ball, complete with a husky Cher impersonator for the likes of fellow Swede
Caroline Winberg,
Waris Ahluwalia, and Rivington Arms'
Mirabelle Marden and Melissa Bent. "I love this place," said
Chloë Sevigny, who didn't mess around with the theme. "I went to a costume shop for my kitty mask, and I bought my friend a Batman one. I take my accessories very seriously."
The next evening, the cool kids stayed downtown, meeting at the Inn LW12 to celebrate
Hope Atherton's opening at the Bortolami gallery. "This martini is helping cool the nerves," the artist said, adding that she also looked to playdates with her nephew and a hair appointment to stay calm before her show. Not that she needed to worry. "I thought this was a real breakthrough for her," said
Amy Greenspon. "And I think everyone agrees. People are saying nice things behind her back, which is a good test." Others complimenting the artist included
Meredith Darrow, Poppy de Villeneuve,
Diego Garcia, and
Elise Øverland.
A few blocks north in Chelsea, the artistic celebrations continued at a Gucci-sponsored dinner at the Marianne Boesky Gallery. "I felt bad making everyone come at the end of the Armory," co-hostess
Arden Wohl said, "as I'm sure they're pretty tired. But this is such a worthwhile cause." The dinner was in honor of the Nest Foundation, a charity that fights child sex trafficking all over the world, and joining Wohl were co-host
David de Rothschild,
Ivanka Trump, and
Claire Bernard.
