"When these girls walk into a party, people notice," said wild-haired necktie designer Alexander Olch of the 20 fashion-forward females honored at men.style.com's packed Wednesday-night bash. Olch should know, having been part of the ten-man panel that was enlisted to perform the arduous task (worse than doing your taxes, right?) of crafting the site's second annual list, officially titled "Women of Fashion: 20 Who Make the World More Glamorous." Other panelists enjoying the breezy night airand the bottomless flutes of Veuve Clicquotat the city's latest rooftop hot spot, Salon de Ning, included designers Rogan Gregory and Rag & Bone duo Marcus Wainwright and David Neville. Michael Bastian was ecstatic that his lovely and often creatively dressed publicist, Eugenia Gonzalez, made the cut for a second straight year. "I'll see her in the morning and I'll be like, 'Man, that is a crazy homeless woman,' " he admitted. "And by the end of the day I'll be like, 'That is the most genius thing I've seen in my life.' " For her part, Gonzalez played down the honor: "It's not a competition." Well, that's debatable.
Having shown up just for kicks (and, dare we say, photo ops), Arden Wohl opined on the most stylish women of all time: Miuccia Prada and free-spirited French writer Colette. Honoree Tara Subkoff, relaxing in the corner with her heels off, insisted that making the world more glamorous is no cakewalk. "Flying internationally with four huge bags right before you're going to do a show in Paristhat is not glamorous," she pouted. Once again, highly debatable.
