Is there any party venue in Manhattan other than the Private Roof Club of the Gramercy Park Hotel? The latest hosts to take over Ian Schrager's popular aerie were Sienna and Savannah Miller, who held a five-hour-long bash there Thursday night to celebrate the debut of their collective fashion line, Twenty8Twelve. "I'm here to support the Brits," said fellow Englishwoman and supermodel Lily Donaldson as she entered the event. "Then I'm off to Ibiza next week." At one point or another the capacity crowd included Anne Hathaway, Agyness Deyn, and MisShape Leigh Lezark, who was celebrating her 22nd birthday by getting guests off their seats. "It's brilliant; I'm getting tipsy with all the buyers," said designer Savannah, while her photogenic younger sibling mugged nearby for Mick Rock. "And all they want to talk about is Posh and Becks."
Which brings us to Brooklyn (the neighborhood, not the Beckham offspring). "I am psyched about the mojito fountain," said Vena Cava's Lisa Mayock at the Prospect Park Alliance's Havana Nights-themed benefit. The Williamsburg-based designer joined a relaxed group of revelers, including the Alliance's junior committee co-chairs Sally Singer of Vogue and Emma Bloomberg, to raise funds and cocktail glasses for the park's future. While chomping on chicken empanadas and cigarsthe chocolate kind, in keeping with the embargoguests mulled the theme of the event, which happened to coincide with Cuba's Revolution Day holiday. "Don't read too much into it," said Bloomberg with a laugh. "Tonight's about bringing people together for the park and to have a good time."
Standing on a balcony overlooking the park's duckweed-covered pond, Singer contemplated the locale's charm. "It's the wild, overgrown quality that does it for me," said the editor, who founded the junior committee with Bloomberg. "Central Park just does not have the same effect." But didn't Singer head back over the East River after a short residency just south of Prospect Park? "I didn't leave Brooklyn for a loft in Tribeca. I left it for the Chelsea Hotel, with which I have a special relationship," she said. "Besides, we still come back here all the time."
Earlier in the day, in the rather more manicured environs of Bridgehampton, Katherine Ross, Elizabeth Saltzman Walker, and Jane Rosenthal sipped champagne in the sun at a luncheon for Emilio Pucci Collectibles, a four-piece reproduction of original items by the designer. The event was held at the Veuve Clicquot house, where the overflowing bottles of bubbly included the yet-to-be released La Grande Dame 1998 and the Rare Vintage Rose 1985.
