New York City's English transplants came out to play on Sunday night at
Jefferson Hack's
Another Magazine party at Gemma in the Bowery Hotel. In the crowd were photographer Craig McDean, Duran Duran's
Simon LeBon and
Nick Rhodes, model
Lily Cole, and assorted other Brits, along with some of their transatlantic cousins in the form of
Chloë Sevigny,
Michael Stipe,
Lazaro Hernandez,
Genevieve Jones, and
Arden Wohl. Representing Australia, meanwhile, was the newly single
Heath Ledger. The actor had inadvertently shown up at the restaurant with some friends for dinner, and happily stayed to chat with
Helena Christensen and
Amy Sacco. Following plates of antipasti, grilled shrimp, and sliced steak, everyone adjourned to The Box, where a Billy Idol look-alike covered in glitter and tattoos emceed an erotic vaudevillian show. "Now everyone can let their hair down," said Hack.
The same night, on the roof of the Gramercy Park Hotel,
Narciso Rodriguez was busy clinking glasses with fans such as
Rachel Weisz,
David Byrne, and
Cindy Sherman. "I guess making clothes was the right decision," said the designer, who was celebrating his tenth year in business. "I still can't believe I've survived."
Donna Karan, on the other hand, was not one bit surprised. "Narciso is one of my babies from our Anne Klein days," she said. "I am so proud of him."
Over at her Meatpacking District headquarters,
Diane von Furstenberg welcomed Ellen Barkin,
André Balazs, and
Margherita Missoni to a casual, buffet-style dinner. In keeping with her show's
Under the Volcano theme, a few of the girls presentincluding
Chiara Clementewore orchids behind their ears. Not that anyone needed a reminder that fashion week was in full bloom.
