The Star of Elizabeth: The Golden Age Discusses the Royal Wardrobe

Lest Paris 2007 get all of this week's fashion spotlight, sixteenth-century English royalty made a bid for attention Wednesday night at the Cinema Society screening of Elizabeth: The Golden Age. Lauren Bacall, Michael Kors, Kelly Klein, Zac Posen, and Helena Christensen were on hand to congratulate leading lady Cate Blanchett, who reprises the role that garnered her an Oscar nomination in 1999. Blanchett, no style slouch, was happy to talk about the film's fashion factor. "Alex Byrne designed the costumes in both films and is an absolute genius," she said. "She references Balenciaga draping as much as she does the Elizabethan detailing, and the underpinnings looked like they were straight off the Comme des Garçons runway."
