"It's exactly what we had envisioned," said Viktor Horsting
in Los Angeles on Friday, surveying the expansive grounds of a private Bel-Air residence. The estate's front lawn had been decked out with white rose petals, oversize white bows, and a "Just Married" white '61 Bentley to celebrate the "marriage" of Viktor & Rolf and H&M. "They called us in March, and right away we said 'yes,' " added Rolf Snoeren. "It's a way to reach more people and address a new audience." Under an all-white arbor of flowers near the entryway of the manse, the designers and their campaign model, Raquel Zimmermann, posed for pictures with Chloë Sevigny, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, and Liz Goldwyn. Inside, where a full orchestra played hits by Beyoncé Knowles, Madonna, and Michael Jackson, other guests chatted excitedly about the arrival of L.A.'s first H&M, which opens next month at the Beverly Center.
Capping off the evening was a runway show of chic trenches, sharp tuxedos, heart-motif blouses, and full skirts, and of course, the duo's much-publicized $349 wedding gown. Kanye West, Owen Wilson, Lisa Eisner, and China Chow gave the designers a standing ovation as white confetti floated over the crowd. A bouquet toss and cake-cutting followed. "I'm loving these black heart tights," said Carmen Electra, who had also donned a cream blouse and fitted skirt from the new collection, which debuts on November 9th. Michele Hicks said she'd be counting the days until then. "I want that trench coat with the heart."
