Chanel Iman and Co. Rev Up for Fashion Week With BMW and Vogue
BMW and Vogue kicked fashion week into high gear on Thursday with a party in honor of the automaker's recent collaboration with Vogue Italia's Franca Sozzani on the design of a special-edition 7 Series. How exactly did the editor pimp her ride? By incorporating felt into the upholstery, a first for the German manufacturer, and adjusting the backseat's center armrest to hold about 30 magazines. (Which rag she'll be stashing in there we can only guess.)
Helena Christensen was one of many auto enthusiasts to drop by the Chelsea event for cocktails. "I like speeding," she confessed, claiming a European disadvantage: "It's difficult to drive on American highways, where the whole thing is in miles-per-hour." Michelle Monaghan admitted that she, too, has a lead foot—as well as a Class A license for big rigs, thanks to her role in the upcoming film Trucker. "I can drive a 53-foot trailer, double clutch, 13 gears," she beamed. Chanel Iman, though, seemed the most likely to join the F1 circuit. "I want to take race car driving classes, learn how to move my car in circles and backwards," she said. But it's not like the Ford model would be starting from scratch. "Actually, my first boyfriend, I taught him how to drive."
