Editors on Ice
The Fashion Pack Gets Its Skates On at the VMan Bash
If guests at VMan and Ford Models' ice-skating party at Chelsea Piers Thursday night were worried about less-than-chic rental skates ruining their look, they didn't let on. "I've been waiting for this party all week," said Leigh Lezark. "I've been itching to get on the ice." This, of course, was before she slipped and cut her finger and had to rush to the hospital for three stitches. Olympic gold medalist Oksana Baiul fared better during her spin around the rink. "I'll only skate if you do," she taunted V Magazine editor in chief Stephen Gan, who replied in mock horror, "But I'm from the tropics!" The evening's highlight came when pro figure skater Johnny Weir took to the ice to perform for guests like Kanye West, Carine Roitfeld, and Michael Stipe. "This is a totally original costume," he said of the bodysuit, satin corset, and huge diamanté cuffs he donned. "For V I wanted to impress."
