Mergers and Acquisitions
Fashion and Art Come Together for a Party at Christie's
Brangelina, TomKat, and SamLo are yesterday's news. These days, fashion and art are the hot—albeit hardly new—couple. They've even earned their own clever nickname (clever if you have a tolerance for bathroom humor, that is): Fart. Last night, "Fart" was fêted by the likes of Henry Holland, Agyness Deyn, Kelly Osbourne, and other merry scenesters on the ground floor of Christie's. The occasion was part fashion week celebration, part private preview of the auction house's latest modern art acquisitions—of which there were literally hundreds. "This is like a museum," mused Chiara Clemente as she wandered through the labyrinth of Warhols, Rauschenbergs, and LeWitts, not to mention a treasure trove of vintage designer threads courtesy of Katy Rodriguez's Resurrection. "It's kind of overwhelming." Yigal Azrouël, on the other hand, found the experience downright Zen. "This is my relaxation time," said the designer, who showed at noon today. "I finished my last fitting half an hour ago and I came here to clear my head." "Fart" is good for that, we hear.
