Colette and Gap have opened a pop-up store in midtown—not that we need to tell you that—and to fête the oh-so-hip collaboration, company honchos, artist types, and international scenesters broke bread last night with a swanky dinner at the Plaza Hotel. It was, comme vous dites, crazy. Purple magazine's Olivier Zahm and the Beatrice Inn's André conducted an impromptu photo shoot on the floor with a topless reveler. Artist NeckFace led the entire crowd in a boisterous birthday song for Colette's Sarah Lerfel (oddly, it wasn't her birthday). And afterward, he took a tour of the marble floors by scooting his chair around and around his table (no, the chair didn't have wheels). Then there were the obligatory smoking violations. "But I am French," protested one reveler when asked to stab out his butt. "And this is fashion." Of course, no fashion party is complete without a goodie bag, and these were most impressive, stuffed as they were with custom-made skateboards and porcelain mugs. "I want to trade in my skateboard for some Repettos," said Terry Richardson. "But I'll settle for these matching mugs."
