Boys Will Be Boys
Partying With the Purple Gang and Alexander Wang
Olivier Zahm was in his element last night. He was also out of his element: The dinner he and BLK DNM founder Johan Lindeberg threw to celebrate the new issue of Purple was at the Mark, way uptown on East 77th Street. But as Zahm greeted his guests—including artist Richard Phillips, Dior Fine Jewelry designer Victoire de Castellane, Gang Gang Dance drummer Lizzi Bougatsos, model Jamie Bochert, and, hey, Lindsay Lohan—he seemed like the happiest host in history. The only decision his guests needed to make: chicken or fish? Which would Zahm recommend? "Oh, I haven't had a chance to eat anything yet," he said, as he continued buzzing from table to table.
Meanwhile, downtown, a very different atmosphere prevailed at Alexander Wang's after-party, thrown with Love magazine. Pier 40 on the Hudson had been transformed into a frat house, replete with kegs, a beer pong table, and PlayStations. Though the set decoration can't be faulted, the party wasn't entirely accurate to its source. For one thing, Odd Future doesn't play at most frats. And supermodels grinding each other on the dance floor? More frat boy fantasy than reality, we'd guess.
