La Via e Bella
A Gala Store Opening in Milan
Milan's Via Montenapoleone is always good for people-watching, but last night, with store openings for Louis Vuitton and Gucci, it was next level. Opposite LV's new four-story flagship, the crowds were three people deep. Camera phones at the ready and mouths agape, they waited for Marc Jacobs and his cohort, Isabeli Fontana, Alexia Niedzielski, and Anna Dello Russo included. ADR, in trademark fashion, gave the amateur shutterbugs her all in peekaboo pants from Vuitton's Fall collection. For the record, the enormous swatches of brightly colored leather in the store's top-floor Haute Maroquinerie made-to-order room had almost as many gawkers.
After the store opening, Jacobs' inner circle decamped for La Triennale, where Katie Grand had installed an updated version of the exhibition she first curated for the brand's London store opening last year, complete with enormous feather dusters in the colors of the Italian flag. Style.com got a personal tour earlier in the day. So, what's on the wish list of the girl who has more Louis Vuitton goodies in her closet than probably anybody on earth? "I'm super-nostalgic about the Sprouse collection. I really wish I would've gotten one of those bags," she said, pointing to a white top-handle style with the designer's big block letters. "And they told me I could have these furry gloves after the exhibition, but two years later it doesn't seem to be over."
