It was a case of life imitating art at the Wednesday night premiere of Pashmy Dream in Milan. The promotional film for Tod's, available for viewing on www.tods.com, was directed by Dennis Hopper and stars Gwyneth Paltrow as an actress hounded by Italian paparazzi—not exactly a stretch. At the private dinner that followed at Via Savona 56, the paps were out in full force, and they put the Oscar winner through her paces. She gave good face, as her pal Madonna would say, but the extended photo session and screening pushed the start of the dinner past 10 p.m. (That's not half bad when you consider that Rihanna kept the guests at Gucci's dinner across town waiting for an hour and a half.) Working the tables during the branzino course, Tod's head honcho, Diego Della Valle, said that a second movie is in the works. Will he make an appearance, Hitchcock-style? Not likely. But Giles Deacon, the designer of Della Valle's Fay collection, did offer to make a cameo.
