Testino Throws the Week's Hottest Party, in Every Way
People should not have been shocked by the steamy temperatures at Café Carmen on Monday night. It was, after all, the venue for a celebration of MaRIO DE JANEIRO Testino, photographer Mario Testino's book about the sizzling South American city where swimsuits are tiny—and often optional. "Have you ever been to Rio?" Testino asked the likes of Janet Jackson, Mariacarla Boscono, and Katy Perry. "It is paradise. Hot and naked and sweaty, just like this. I hope it even gets hotter so that everyone has to take off their clothes."
It did get hotter. Particularly when the caipirinhas were mixed with a traditional Brazilian dance troupe, who blazed into the V Magazine-hosted party wielding giant drums. Bedazzled, headdress-sporting, nearly naked dancers surrounded Testino's cohorts Alice Dellal, Margherita Missoni, Shala Monroque, and Giovanna Battaglia. "They teach you how to dance like that before they teach you how to walk," said Dellal, a London girl with Brazilian blood. Kate Moss, meanwhile, had to do a dance with photographers all evening, even when sprinting to her car on her way out. Bumping into Testino en route, she made his night. "It feels like Rio in there, doll," she confirmed, adding with a seductive pout, "Sexy!" Wait, did things just get even hotter?
