Models and Ministers Mix at ANDAM's Fashion Award Dinner
Louis Vuitton was over. Miu Miu all done. Most American retailers and editors were already zonked on Ambien somewhere over the Atlantic, but Paris' top designers gathered at the French Minister of Culture Frédéric Mitterand's headquarters last night for the ANDAM Fashion Award dinner. Lanvin's Alber Elbaz, Yohji Yamamoto, Jean Paul Gaultier, Haider Ackermann, Giambattista Valli, and Nina Ricci's Peter Copping—everyone in various stages of post-show recovery—came out to say their bonsoirs and à bientôts. In addition to the minister, Jane Birkin, the IHT's Suzy Menkes, and Humberto Leon and Carol Lim, the new creative directors of Kenzo, were also in the crowd.
Anthony Vaccarello was the man of the hour, not only for having won ANDAM's €220,000 prize earlier this year but also for putting Anja Rubik in one of his body-con minidresses. The terrace views of the Palais Royale gardens had nothing on her. Vaccarello, who also dressed Lou Doillon for the occasion, was excited to be in the presence of Azzedine Alaïa. "He's the master, but I can't talk to him. When I meet someone I admire so much, I get shy," he told Style.com. We'd say his pal Anja has a similar effect on people.
