No Rest for the Paparazzi as the amfAR Gala Rolls Into Town

The films may have been the usual mixed bag, but the red carpets at Cannes have been delivering solid hits for the last week—we especially loved Mia Wasikowska's understated Roland Mouret, Tilda Swinton's drapey Haider Ackermann, and Zoe Saldana in flower-strewn Vionnet. But it's the film festival's annual amfAR Cinema Against AIDS gala that gets all of us here at really excited. Why? Because there are gowns galore, of course, but also because so many of our favorite designers turn up to show their continuing support for this charity. This year, Riccardo Tisci arrived on the arms of a gaggle of Givenchy-clad ladies, Naomi Campbell, Courtney Love, and Carine Roitfeld (in haute couture) included. Karl Lagerfeld surrounded himself with blondes: Uma Thurman, Kirsten Dunst, Bar Refaeli, and Karolina Kurkova. And Pucci's Peter Dundas dressed Vogue Italia's Franca Sozzani, Anja Rubik, and Julia Restoin-Roitfeld. Our pick for the most memorable look of the night, though, goes to Giovanna Battaglia's Rudi Gernreich-channeling peekaboo dress. Eat your hearts out, A-listers.
