Getting Juicy
Duran Duran's John Taylor Toasts His Better Half's New London Store
"Dude, Where's the Couture?" read the invitation to last night's opening bash for Juicy Couture's London store. And as per usual with the California-based label, the party was unabashedly over-the-top: balloons, candy everywhere, mustachioed waiters, pumping music, boys in skintight jeans with the word Juicy spray-painted on their backside. In the middle of it all was the brand's co-founder Gela Nash-Taylor, in a miniature top hat, over-the-knee boots, and a giant Union Jack flag she had wrapped up into a skirt. "I put a bustle on there, too, since I don't have an ass," she explained.
Where was her cohort, Pamela Skaist-Levy? "Oh, Pam don't fly. But that's fine with me. I only opened this store so I could spend more time at my country home!" Nash-Taylor joked. Joining the traveling Juicy girl was her husband, Duran Duran's John Taylor, and his bandmate Simon LeBon with his wife, Yasmin. Mixing it up with them was a slew of London cool kids like Lily Cole, Tolula Adeyemi, and Ben Grimes. Nash-Taylor explained that it's going to be a busy week, what with Burberry's Christopher Bailey hosting a ladies' lunch for her at Kensington Palace on Friday. "What do you think she'll wear?" Jade Jagger asked. "I vote for a tracksuit and a tiara." The lady in question said that was certainly an option, but that she actually had something else in mind. "Depending on the weather," she said, "I might utilize some dry ice."
