Matthew Williamson Marks A Decade-And-A-Half In Business
"I'm a Matthew Williamson girl and I will always be," Yasmin Le Bon told Style.com last night at the designer's 15th anniversary party in London. "He hasn't changed who he is over the years and has had huge success sticking to the script. I admire that immensely." She's not the only one. Tallulah Harlech, Cat Deeley, Poppy Delevingne, and Williamson's parents all came out to clink glasses and catch the screening of a short celebratory film, XV, produced with Net-a-Porter and Swarovski. In it, Andrea Riseborough, Madonna's Wallis Simpson, plays mother to a sleeping teenaged Matthew, waking him from a blissful dream of dressing beautiful women to come to dinner. Sienna Miller also stars, and just four weeks after having her baby. "So a special shout-out for her!" said CEO Joseph Velosa. A limited edition of the Swarovski-encrusted dresses that appeared in the film will hit Net-a-Porter on Halloween. After that, next on Williamson's to-do list is a new line of shoes and bags, and a capsule collection with Ballantyne.
When pressed for highlights from his decade-and-a-half career, Williamson replied, "Well, there have been a lot of memorable moments, but tonight is definitely up there."
