China's Art Crowd Fêtes Calvin Klein Collection's Francisco Costa
Art and fashion. Fashion and art. They just go together, whether you're in Manhattan, at Art Basel Miami Beach, or on mainland China. Last night in Beijing, Calvin Klein Collection hosted a dinner party in honor of women's creative director Francisco Costa at the city's contemporary art museum, Long March Space. Mingling among enigmatic steel installations by the renowned sculptor Zhan Wang were his fellow Chinese art stars Liu Xiaodong and Yu Hong, as well as such members of fashion's international jet set as Hanneli Mustaparta, Lily Kwong, and the model Du Juan.
The label enlisted Daniel Boulud to design a four-course menu for the occasion and hired New Zealand songstress Kimbra to perform. Fashion and music make for friendly bedfellows, too. Asked what she'd be doing after her set, Kimbra said she wanted to check out the Hot Cat Club, a dive bar in the old part of Beijing. Meanwhile, a private birthday bash for "China's Number One Hearthrob," Huang Xiaoming, served as the unofficial after-party for the Klein set.
