The world meets in London. And where the people go, Ferragamo is. "Our customers are not just in the obvious spots like Moscow or Mumbai," said Mauro Grimaldi, the brand's European director. "They are coming from places like Brazil and Baku. Many of them journey to London for shopping pilgrimages—that is why Salvatore Ferragamo chose London as the third city right after Florence and Rome to set up shop. It is in our brand ethos to look after our customers, so we will go to them. We're very old-fashioned and Italian that way." It's been in the U.K. for 75 years now, and in celebration of that milestone—and the refurbishing of its two London shops—the brand threw a massive bash.

Old-fashioned Italian it was, but with an Anglo spin—think Dickens meets the Medicis. First, a spin through the renovated Old Bond Street store, where guests like Camilla Belle, Yasmin and Amber Le Bon, Tallulah Harlech, Suzy Menkes, and Mary Charteris (in a lace mask) dropped by to pay their respects, then around the corner to the historic Burlington Arcade, for a dinner in open air on a 60-foot, crystal-laden table.

Representing America was the evening's guest of honor, Jessica Alba. But glamorous as she was, she insisted she's really just a working mom. "The truth is, I need comfort and chic in equal measure, as I am running after my daughters all the time," she said. "That's why I have several Ferragamo shoes and bags, which I wear from day to night. Definitely, they are a go-to brand for me—plus they are such a lovely family."
