Hard to Forget
Gwyneth, Courteney, and More Make a Lasting Impression at Saks' Unforgettable Evening
Saks Fifth Avenue's 14th annual Unforgettable Evening benefiting the Entertainment Industry Foundation's Women's Cancer Research Fund drew so many stars it felt like an Oscars warm-up. Steven Spielberg, Sheryl Crow, and Angie Harmon, among others, turned out to recognize Gwyneth Paltrow and Courteney Cox for their dedication to cancer causes. "When I saw the invitation I felt like a 15-year-old who thinks no one will come to their party," said Paltrow, who dressed for the occasion nonetheless in cream-colored Calvin Klein and Balmain. Cox, who wore a metallic slip dress from L'Wren Scott, said, "It's kind of embarrassing to get an award, but it's something that's a huge part of my life, so I am honored to be honored."
Co-host Tom Hanks was plenty comfortable with his emcee duties. "My suit fits like a pair of pajamas," he remarked of his Tom Ford threads before taking the stage. Wife Rita Wilson was equally at ease: "I bought this off the rack at Barneys," she said of her strapless Lanvin number. "I am so comfortable you have no idea." A surprise performance by Beyoncé, which had hubby Jay-Z, for one, on his feet, rounded out the evening. Revelers went home with a cupcake, but the real treat was the $1.5 million grant given by Susan G. Komen for the Cure to EIF's Women's Cancer Research Fund.
