A Charlotte Ronson party is always a family affair. Friday night proved no exception, as the designer celebrated the launch of her I ♥ Ronson line for JCPenney in L.A. Twin sis Samantha (sans Lindsay—draw your own conclusions; the gossip sites already have) was on the decks as guests arrived for a pre-fête feast at Bar Marmont, where the whirly pops, rock candy, and strawberry vodka cocktails all came in Ronson signature pink. Also on the menu: mini burgers and pizzas, giant-size onion rings and fries, wedge salad, mashed potatoes and chicken-fried steak, and a chocolate cake that accommodated the comfort food theme by being decorated with, ahem, white lines. (Actually, it was nothing stronger than whipped cream.) "I had no idea this is what they meant by 'the Hollywood Cake,' " remarked Charlotte. "I mean, it's funny, but maybe a little inappropriate. Or," she added with a laugh, "maybe a little too appropriate."

Later, Milla Jovovich and Rashida Jones jammed by the stage as the designer's brother, Mark Ronson, and the many-membered Version Players let rip with raps about JCPenney and live takes on Version tracks "Just" and "Oh My God." Other guests, meanwhile, were lining up for a tour of "Charlotte's Closet," where items from I ♥ Ronson's first two deliveries were up for the snatching. The microfloral print dresses and skirts and nautical-striped tops went extra-fast, but anyone who missed out on the giveaway can always pick up Ronson product at Penney's. With prices topping out at $65 for a spring jacket, it would be a relatively pain-free shopping trip. Not that Rachel Zoe has been observing much belt-tightening among her clientele. After trading air kisses with Paris Hilton, Zoe answered with a pithy "no" when asked whether she thinks the economy is fomenting an anti-glamour trend. "As long as there are movie stars, there will be movie star glamour," she asserted. Or, to put it another way: Let them eat (Hollywood) cake.
