"California, I'm Coming Home"
Hailee Steinfeld, Tavi Gevinson, and More Turn Out for Miu Miu's L.A. Gathering
Miu Miu invited the young Hollywood set to a summer soirée and screening of filmmaker Lucrecia Martel's short film Muta high in the hills above L.A. last night. The contemporary noir clip, which explores the lead character's love affair with Miu Miu (what else?), went over swimmingly with a crowd that included Diane Kruger, Emma Roberts, Camilla Belle, Malin Akerman, Jeremy Renner, and David LaChapelle. "If ever there was a Miu Miu season that's the most like me, it's this one," said Shiva Rose of the looks featured during the outdoor screening. "I mean birds, forties, sequins—I'm obsessed."
Held at a private residence above Sunset Boulevard (which many recognized as a former home of Vincent Chase on Entourage), the nostalgic scene was completed by the cigarette girls showing off the new sunglass collection and the antique film cameras on display. "I've been a fan of Miu Miu ever since I knew what Miu Miu was, and I'm so honored to be representing the brand," said Hailee Steinfeld, who stars in the label's latest campaign. But it's not all work and no play for the talented teen. "I've been going to the beach with my friends a lot this summer," she reported. Speaking of teens, blogger Tavi Gevinson (in town with her dad) was feeling the SoCal scene: "When we were flying in and I was looking out the window, I was so in tune with Joni Mitchell: 'California, I'm coming home.' L.A. is so weird and tacky, in a good way."
