The Young and the Pore-less
Teen Vogue's Bash for Tinseltown's Newest Stars
For today's bumper crop of Next Big Things, an invite to Teen Vogue's annual Young Hollywood party is as coveted as a Neutrogena campaign. Among those lucky enough to make the cut this year were 90210 star AnnaLynne McCord, pop heartthrob Jesse McCartney, Tallulah Belle Willis (the most junior member the Demi/Ashton/Bruce clan), and respective Nickelodeon and Disney Channel darlings Miranda Cosgrove and Selena Gomez. Along with 400 or so other NBTs, these rising stars packed into Milk Studios in Hollywood last night for an evening of virgin margaritas and underage air-kissing.
The party kicked off with a runway show of D&G's Fall 2009/2010 collection. This was no audience of world-weary fashionistas, and the high-octane mix of comely models, designer duds, and a Rihanna soundtrack had the teens clapping, bopping in their seats, and in one instance, even doing the robot. "Every year, the energy of this party just amazes me," said Teen Vogue editor in chief Amy Astley as she took in the scene. And what are the kids wearing these days? "Miniskirts and fierce heels," Astley summed up.
The evening's footwear of choice was possibly not the most conducive to dancing, and several guests were forced to abandon their stilettos to better boogie down to the songs of the musical guest, Noisettes. "Owww-y," Willis mouthed to a friend as she slipped out of her Louboutins.
Of course, no Young Hollywood party would be complete without a Twilight cameo, and last night's came in the form of Taylor Lautner, who'd flown in for the occasion from the Eclipse set in Vancouver, Canada. His arrival was met by a throng of breathless, camera-wielding models. "This doesn't happen often, I swear," Lautner insisted.
