Alberta Ferretti has gone Hollywood. The Milanese designer bypassed New York in favor of opening her U.S. flagship in Los Angeles, near Balenciaga and Alexander McQueen's new boutiques. "L.A. is a fantastic city and I have many, many clients here," said Ferretti, greeting some of them at an in-store cocktail party hosted by Vogue on Wednesday night. "I love to go running in Santa Monica, go to the restaurants, and to see contemporary art at LACMA and MOCA. And the weather!"

Ferretti is known for her floaty and ethereal creations, but the 4,500-square-foot shop—which houses the signature collection and the less expensive Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti and Alberta Ferretti Girl lines, along with footwear, handbags, and eyewear—is striking and futuristic, with recessed lighting, circular gray settees, and transparent acrylic dividers. "Who designed this store?" asked In Treatment's Melissa George. "I want them to do my apartment!"

Post-soirée, a select group of Ferretti friends, including Benicio Del Toro, January Jones, Cameron Silver, and Konstantin Kakanias, hit the Bar Marmont for a dinner of steak frites, diver scallops, and crème brûlée. Vogue's Lisa Love told Ferretti, "You make the women of Los Angeles look beautiful." And all along, we thought that was what Dr. 90210 was for.
