MAC Celebrates Its Hello Kitty Collection at a Chelsea Hot Spot
There were buff men in nothing but latex paint and giant cartoon kitty masks. The girls wore full-body PVC catsuits and high heels. The lights were dim and everyone was putting on lots of makeup. "Ah, just another night in Chelsea," teased Fabiola Beracasa at Cedar Lake on Thursday evening. The socialite knew full well that the cocktail party was a launch pad for MAC's new Hello Kitty collection—she consulted on the project. But many of the guests weren't so clear. "I'm not exactly sure what it's all about," Entourage's Perrey Reeves said as she examined mannequins decked out in black, gray, white, and pink creations. "But it looks like everyone's having fun." Good fun for a good cause: The ensembles were one-of-a-kind Hello Kitty-inspired designs by the likes of Zac Posen, Marchesa, and Threeasfour, and the proceeds from the sale of said frocks on eBay will benefit the Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology. "This all came together at the last minute," MAC's John Demsey explained. "Isn't that case with most good parties?"
