Sorry, ladies, but New Yorkers for Children's annual Fool's Fête, held Wednesday at the Mandarin Oriental, was all about the fellas. Josh Hartnett, Joshua Jackson, Robert Buckley, and Jack Huston sent New York's social set into a frenzy that kept the cocktail portion of the evening running long: The guys made it easy for their admirers, lingering as they did by the bar during the pre-dinner gab and photo fest. Huston, for one, had good cause to dampen his nerves: His date, Cat Deeley, wore a white dress with a train, which many remarked would make a lovely wedding gown if he were so inclined. (Make that a double, bartender!)

During the steak dinner, a particularly rowdy table tried to talk over a poignant speech made by Will, a Hunter College freshman who had benefited from the charity's work, so Buckley shushed them. Now that's brotherhood. But the best part about all the male energy in the room? Plenty of dance partners. Only Hartnett protested—"I think I'll sit down for a few," he said—and the crowd made do without him. Bopping between Vanity Fair's Jessica Diehl and designer Chris Benz to "Girls Just Want to Have Fun," Eva Amurri said, "This is like prom." She probably wasn't the only one who thought the evening's $500 and $1,000 tickets represented money well spent.
