"I'm cheating tonight," said Georgina Chapman at Wednesday night's New Yorkers for Children gala at the Mandarin Oriental. Relax, Harvey. The Marchesa designer and bride of Weinstein was simply referring to the fact that her dress came not from her own atelier but courtesy of Missoni, the evening's sponsor. The Italian house not only outfitted the likes of Mary-Kate Olsen and Joy Bryant but also provided the exuberant table settings. "People are definitely going to be stealing those," predicted Rachel Zoe, pointing out the cloth napkins with their polka-dot butterfly prints.
Out in the lobby, guests were procuring goods by more legal meansi.e., a silent auction. "Are there any bachelors on the block?" asked Gossip Girl's Leighton Meester. "Actually, I think I need to go home alone tonight." That wasn't hard to accomplish. More than one PYT bemoaned the lack of eligible men in attendance. But not Emmy Rossum, who, when asked the identity of her date, replied, "I don't talk about those kinds of things, but I'm sure if you Wikipedia me you could find out." We did. His name is Justin Siegal and he's a record producer.
After dinner, the socials hit the dance floor with a vengeance. Girls danced with girls (Chessy Wilson and Serena Merriman), boys boogied with boys (Topper Mortimer and Mickey Boardman), and Zac Posen danced with everyone. "Isn't he amazing?" asked Margherita Missoni as she watched her friend bump and grind with a group of spirited female admirers. "His moves are legendary."
