"It's probably tucked [away] back here," said Michael Roberts as he strolled into Carlos Miele's Meatpacking District boutique Wednesday night, looking for the T-shirt he'd designed. Miele had invited Roberts, along with Scarlett Johansson, Camilla Belle, Caroline Trentini, and three others, to put their stamp on a shirt to benefit the Rainforest Foundation. The designer-cum-host chose to wear fellow Brazilian Belle's design for the party, though the actress, stuck at a photo shoot, missed the honor. Still, Roberts needn't have worried that his was second best. "It's in the front!" he exclaimed with delight when he spotted his work. The event, which was co-hosted by Vogue, did a bustling business in T-shirt sales—fueled, perhaps, in part by the eco-trendy açai liqueur cocktails on hand. Cue the eco-hangover.

Meanwhile, a block away, photos were being both snapped and sold at Phillips de Pury & Company, where Free Arts NYC, in conjunction with Vanity Fair, was holding its Portraits & Polaroids auction to help fund children's arts programs. The event, which put original work by the likes of Christopher Wool, Chuck Close, and Laurie Simmons on the auction block, attracted a stylish crowd of art enthusiasts that included Michelle Monaghan, Erin Fetherston, Thom Browne, and Georgina Chapman. "I love Polaroids—they kind of bleach you out," noted Chapman. "It's quite flattering." While the Marchesa designer confirmed her label would be dressing at least one guest at the Costume Institute's big bash on Monday, she declined to reveal more. "I don't like to say until the day, because you never know what could happen," she explained. "My dog could eat the dress."
