"He's Clark Kent right now. He looks so hot," raved Kate Mara about her date, Zac Posen, and his nerdy, secretly super getup at last night's Met ball after-party at restaurant Philippe. The affair, which was hosted by Lauren Santo Domingo and her date for the evening, Nina Ricci designer Olivier Theyskens, drew gala-goers like Kate Bosworth, Harvey Weinstein, Amanda Harlech, and Proenza Schouler's Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez down to East 60th Street for dumplings and dancing. Vogue's André Leon Talley arrived with Venus Williams on his arm and an enormous scarlet cape on his back. That sartorial extravagance only looked like a handful. Explained Talley: "It's easy. It's like wearing a sweater. It takes no practice. Style is not about practice." Guests swarmed like proverbial moths to a flame when the designer of said cape, Karl Lagerfeld, walked in. He took a seat next to Anna Wintour and proceeded to praise the comic-book theme of the Costume Institute's new exhibit. "It's very graphic—like video games," he said. "It's something young we can relate to." The last word on the evening may have belonged to Ivanka Trump, though. "How often can you wear a nine-carat diamond on your forehead?" she mused.
