A Pretty Crowd Gathers to Fête YSL's New Fragrance
The entrance of New York's Indochine could have easily been mistaken for a runway last night as a parade of models traipsed through. Arizona Muse, Lindsey Wixson, Chanel Iman, and Abbey Lee Kershaw were all on hand to celebrate the new Yves Saint Laurent fragrance, L'Homme Libre, and its face, Natalie Portman's beau, Benjamin Millepied.
Of the scent, Stefano Pilati told Style.com, "The concept was about exploring freedom of expression and the body." That led to the obvious choice of a dancer. "Benjamin was a perfect fit for this," says the designer, who was spotted on the dance floor at the Standard Hotel's post-Met ball bash with Florence Welch last month. Will the Florence + the Machine front woman be the next face of a YSL fragrance? Not likely, said Pilati. "She's my friend and I like to keep work and friends separate."
While most of the guests packed into the front of the room during pre-dinner cocktails, Wixson—who walked in the brand's Resort show earlier in the day—retreated to a booth in the back of the restaurant. She had switched out of her nautical number from the show, but she still had her mind on the breezy looks. "I love the little shoes with the ankle strap that were cheetah print—so wild and fun." The Kansas native admitted, however, that her favorite look of the moment is a bit more laid-back: "Denim shorts all the time—they are vintage Lee, and I have a Thakoon satchel bag that has saved my life."
