Après le Déluge
no umbrellas necessary at calvin klein's high line party
The problem with outdoor parties, of course, is weather, and it wasn't cooperating on Monday, when Calvin Klein was set to host a post-CFDA soirée atop the High Line. Just before sunset there was a downpour so torrential one reveler joked it would've made Noah and his ark nervous. Not that everyone was worked up. "Oh, I wasn't worried in the slightest," host Francisco Costa protested. "I figured it was just a final rinse for the party." Costa was right, of course. By the time the VIPs—Gerald Butler, Zoe Saldana, Diane von Furstenberg, and a whole slew of CFDA award winners, including Alexander Wang, Scott Sternberg, and the company's very own Italo Zucchelli—arrived to check out the newly opened park in the sky, the clouds had disappeared.
Even better news: The bar was long enough that there was never a wait, and—it being a park and all—there was never any crowding. On one end was Hilary Rhoda, still reeling from the Bonnaroo Music Festival. "I'm glad the lighting is good," she said of the darkened atmosphere. And on the other end were Twilight's Taylor Lautner and Michelle Trachtenberg, the latter of whom showed no signs of slowing down. "It's going to be going off at Butter tonight. I'm going to go in a few minutes." Her date and dressmaker Behnaz Sarafpour seemed confused: "Butter? I love butter. Wait, is that a place?"
