Spiked Snow Cones and Dunk Machines at Coach's Summer Carnival
It wasn't a good evening to leave your shades at home. As guests arrived at the High Line last night for Coach's second annual summer party, the sun was setting on one of the longest days of the year and the skyline was glowing orange and pink. Lucky for the partygoers, sunglasses were among the prizes you could win at the carnival games set up on the elevated railway-turned-park. Kids (well, mostly big kids) including Penn Badgley, Dianna Agron, Jessica Stam, and Maggie Gyllenhaal snacked on spiked snow cones while they waited in line to play Wacky Gator or take their turn at the dunk tank.
"It sure took them a long time to get the naked guy in the water," Kate Mara remarked. The naked guy she was referring to was one of the hunky male models (who, for the record, was wearing swim trunks) sitting in the tank. Friends of the High Line co-founder Robert Hammond also took a turn in it, but he opted to go in fully clothed.
The line to get your fortune read grew longer and longer as the night went on. Opting to watch the action on the dance floor instead, the Costello Tagliapietra designers reminisced about a different kind of circus they'd recently witnessed. "We were just in Las Vegas and it's kind of like a carnival, too," mused Robert Tagliapietra. "My room was so luxurious I mostly just stayed inside most of the time," added Jeffrey Costello. "But I do regret not shooting a machine gun while I was there—apparently you can do that in Vegas."
