H&M's New Face, Lana Del Rey, Wows a New York Crowd With a "Magical" Set

H&M is known for going big, but last night's party stayed small. The Swedish retailer booked New York's micro-venue The Wooly for a performance by its new campaign face, Lana Del Rey. Prabal Gurung, Jason Wu, and Barbara Bush were particularly looking forward to Lana's performance. "I've been a big fan of hers for a long time," Gurung told Style.com. "She came to my show and sat in my front row last spring before everyone knew about her."

They knew her and she knew them. "There's so many faces here I recognize," Del Rey said as she took the stage to perform an acoustic version of her hit "Blue Jeans." One such familiar face was Leandra Medine, of Man Repeller fame, spotted swaying and singing along in the front. Little known fact: The two were teenage friends, when Lana Del Rey still went by Lizzy. "We used to take the subway together from 86th Street!" Medine said. How has Lana changed since achieving such celebrity? "It's been really interesting to see what's happened to Lizzy in the past year. She's magical," she added, as Del Rey broke into "Blue Velvet," which she also performs in the new H&M campaign video. "There are just some people who have it and she's one of them."
