You Can Find Them in the Club
Paper and Friends Love the Nightlife at the Mag's Seventh Annual Party Awards
"I have won a lot of awards and they are so tacky, but these are pretty cute," Patricia Field said, backstage at Paper Magazine's Seventh Annual Nightlife Awards at Hiro Ballroom in New York last night. "I like them so much, maybe I will award one to myself."
While the presenter and a few others, like pop star Jason Derulo, admitted they don't get out that much, plenty of the thronging crowd definitely did. They cheered for Best Door Person (Le Bain's Ian Bradley), Best New Party (On Top at Le Bain), and Best Restaurant With a Nightlife Scene (Miss Lily's). ("I was hoping Miss Lily's would win because I go there all the time," Estelle said, after presenting the hot spot with its award.) Even a Best Night was awarded, leading to a little confusion. "Are you Thursday?" host Wendy Williams wondered when a man—actually the winner of the following award—came up to collect his prize.
The crowd roared for the memorial "moment of noise" (no silence with this group) that Paper's David Hershkovits invoked for the late Don Hill and kept it going for cover girl Mary J. Blige's performance at the end of the night. Which was, conveniently enough, before 11 p.m. Perfect time for partygoers to venture to their favorite nightlife spots—even if it was only Tuesday.
