Waris the Explorer
The Bon Vivant and His Friends Fête the Luxury Collection's U.S. Destination Guide
What exactly does one do as a global explorer? That was a question asked many times last night at the Chatwal, where Waris Ahluwalia and Jay McInerney celebrated the launch of the Luxury Collection Hotels and Resorts' U.S. Destination Guide with pals like Mary-Louise Parker, Candace Bushnell, and Debra Messing. "Whatever it is, it sounds totally awesome," one female guest said. "It's like one of those jobs you dreamed of as a kid."
Ahluwalia, the lucky guy who landed the gig, explained it for Style.com: "Flying around the world and shaking hands is nice and everything," he said. "But I don't just want to do that—I like to be involved." So in between crisscrossing the globe (his favorite hotel so far: the Gritti Palace in Venice) and sitting on panels advising on various issues for the company, Ahluwalia co-wrote a short film with a friend, set at one of the Luxury Collection's U.S. locations. "I don't know how much I'm allowed to say about the project just yet," he said. "What I can tell you is, it's my love story to New York."
