After a few restful days filled with family, football, and turkey, a group of powerful New Yorkers, including Robert De Niro, Jeff Koons, and Francisco Costa, got back into action last night, rallying for the launch of the Americans for Marriage Equality campaign. The Human Rights Campaign was kicking off its new nationwide advocacy program celebrating love, family, and commitment at the Calvin Klein Collection store on Madison Avenue. "Because we are New York, we aren't happy with it just being in a couple of states," City Council Speaker Christine Quinn told the crowd. "We want it to be everywhere."

Quinn, HRC president Joe Solmonese, and gay rights activist Brian Ellner were joined on the stage by Julianne Moore. The actress, who was nominated for a Golden Globe last year for The Kids Are All Right, was one of the first influencers to step up and film a video endorsing marriage equality. "When I was trying to explain this to my daughter, she said, 'Mom, that is awful. I can't imagine not being able to marry someone you love.' She was shocked," Moore told the audience. A few moments after her speech, she confessed to Style.com, "I was terrified up there, especially following mayoral candidates, but at least I got a laugh."

Neil Patrick Harris was looking for laughs, too. "I get to wear suits a lot in my day job. CK fits my lanky bone structure, and they have nice underwear. It's one-stop shopping," he said, before striking a more serious tone. "HRC has a very wide swath, so it's great to be able to lend our names to something that will have some impact."
