"Kate Moss is my favorite," Theophilus London told Style.com at last night's party for the unveiling of the 2012 Pirelli Calendar. "Is she in it, naked?" he asked. Yes, Theophilus (and anyone else who missed the blasts on the blogosphere after yesterday's press conference), Kate is in the Mario Sorrenti-lensed calendar, along with the likes of Lara Stone, Natasha Poly, Joan Smalls, and Isabeli Fontana, and indeed they are all naked. Though Moss didn't turn out for last night's black-tie gala, Sorrenti, several of the models, Valentino Garavani, Julian Schnabel, and a large contingent of Italians did. "I was in it last year," said Julianne Moore of the 2011 calendar, photographed by Karl Lagerfeld, before the dinner. "I was the older one with clothes on, obviously."
After the actress-turned-emcee-for-the-night presented her friend Sorrenti to the Park Avenue Armory audience, they were treated to a video about the making of the calendar, followed by a surprise guest performance. "Who do you think it is?" Mia Moretti wondered as the crowd buzzed with guesses. Another guest responded, "The Rolling Stones, maybe, or the Kills?" It turned out to be Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli, who concluded the evening with a performance that just about brought down the house.
