Who Wore It Best on TV's Biggest Night
With all the action on the London runways, we almost forgot to tune into the Emmy Awards last night. Plenty of big stars from the small screen turned up on the red carpet, but many of their looks played it too safe or missed the mark. Gwyneth Paltrow was the evening's sole risk taker, and it paid off. Wearing an intricately embroidered Emilio Pucci look that showed a flash of midriff, Gwynnie gave us a sneak preview of Peter Dundas' Spring collection, which will make its catwalk debut in Milan later this week.
Other memorable looks included Drew Barrymore's diaphanous Fall Givenchy Haute Couture by Riccardo Tisci and Olivia Munn's jade green Carolina Herrera gown, plucked fresh from the designer's Spring 2012 runway. They both stood out in a sea of red dresses (see: Kate Winslet, in Elie Saab; Lea Michele, in Marchesa; and Kerry Washington, in Zuhair Murad). Our other shout-out goes to Mad Men's 11-year-old Kiernan Shipka (a.k.a. Sally Draper), in Balenciaga; she could teach a few of the other starlets (ahem, Nina Dobrev) a thing or two about dressing for your age.
