An American in London

Ralph Lauren Restages His Spring Show for the Brits

PHOTOS
Rosamund Pike, Lady Gabriella Windsor, and Plum Sykes were part of a clutch of London's A-list girls who gathered on Tuesday for a power lunch hosted by Ralph Lauren and the Serpentine Gallery at the private members' club Fifty London. Saffron Aldridge, Lillian von Stauffenberg, and Sarah Doukas (the head of Storm Models who famously discovered Kate Moss) dined on seared tuna, while models in Lauren's metallic flapper dresses had Pike, who stars opposite Anthony Hopkins and Ryan Gosling in April's Fracture, clapping enthusiastically—red-carpet options, perhaps?

The afternoon closed with a bidding war for two tickets to the Serpentine's annual summer shindig. The winner, Heather Bird, American-born wife of property billionaire Robert Tchenguiz, paid about $2,500—a sum that will go to the gallery's education program and its latest project, Dyslexia Action. And considering Londoners call the Serpentine bash the party of the year, it's probably a bargain.
