A Screening of 21 Draws A-Listers From Fashion and Film
The Cinema Society and Calvin Klein Jeans went all out for the after-party of Wednesday night's 21 screening, transforming the sub-basement of the Mercer Hotel into a makeshift casino. The movie, which is based on the true story of M.I.T. students mathematically pulling fast ones at Las Vegas blackjack tables, stars Kate Bosworth, who, to everyone's surprise (including her own), became something of a card shark over the course of the filming. "I got pretty good," she boasted. "When we got to Vegas we were told to go out, have fun, gamble, party, and really do what one does there. I couldn't help but get into character." Bosworth's co-star Jim Sturgess agreed that the lures of Sin City were hard to resist. "We had a month in Vegas, which was just wild. It's a whole other world," he said. Then, perhaps as a dig at Bosworth's superior card skills, he added, "But gambling is all about luck."
