Artist David Ellis Jazzes Up the Theory Boutique

Alexander McQueen can claim a naked angel in his new L.A. store, but Theory's Andrew Rosen has David Ellis' winged Flyway—an airplane hangar-inspired sculpture—in his Meatpacking District boutique, at least until June 2. On Tuesday night, Rosen, who made a five-year donation to the downtown-heading Whitney Museum, hosted a dinner and party at Macelleria honoring Ellis and his new work for the Theory Icon Project. Bijou Phillips, May Andersen, Damon Dash, Waris Ahluwalia, Chiara Clemente, David Lauren, Lauren Bush, and the newly engaged Stacey Bendet were among those who enjoyed Italian fare before heading across the street to the shop, where the artist has been painting and filming for a week. A time-lapse movie of his activities, titled Baker's, and an original painting were revealed before a bird-shaped mascot took the floor for a live drum performance. Ellis, who couldn't stop dancing, declared the effect "perfect, perfect."
