Naeem Khan Turns 5-0 With (Studio) 54
PHOTOS
Attire: Studio 54. It was etched into the heavy glass invite for Naeem Khan's 50th birthday bash at his showroom Wednesday night. Who could refuse? Certainly not guests like Linda Fargo, Donna D'Cruz, Carlos Mota, and Eva Lorenzotti, who all obliged for the Halston alum's half-century blowout. Some transformed themselves into walking disco balls in the designer's spangled gowns; others shook the mothballs off their tacky leisure suits. And Khan provided a perfect setting that would have made Steve Rubell proud: silver lamé banquettes, half-naked waiters, and a mirrored dance floor. Modern? Not in the least. Fun? Yes. The birthday boy named his favorite Studio 54 memory: Halston's Valentine's Day party, complete with nude models and a breast-shaped cake. Khan's wife, Ranjana, waxed more romantic. "Our first date was at Studio 54," she said. "I thought, 'If this boy's trying to impress me, he is!' "
