Watching I'm Not There With Agyness Deyn, Richard Gere, and Co.
With the type of A-list cast that Todd Haynes assembled for his Bob Dylan biopic, I'm Not There, a seating snafu of the kind that occurred at the Tuesday-night Cinema Society screening was almost unavoidable. But did it have to be Lauren Bacall, popcorn in hand, who was left standing? Glenn Close graciously offered her seat, but the icon refused, and it was only after a lengthy scramble that she took a seat alongside such guests as Harvey Weinstein, Jason Bateman, Olympia Dukakis, Patricia Clarkson, and Richard Gere, and the movie finally began. All seemed forgiven at the Bowery Hotel after-party, though, where Heath Ledger and Agyness Deyn congregated near the pool table and Val Kilmer and Maggie Rizer entertained on the outdoor patio. Grabbing a quick bite at the buffet was Julianne Moore, who has a cameo as a folksinger named Alice. Confirming that she had donned brown contacts to disguise her green eyes, Moore added, "That was definitely a wig, too!"
